do you have it hooked up with an analog vga cable perhaps?
apart from nvidia labelling it as a crt, do you actually experience any problems with it?

it goes a bit jerky but if i put it on a smaller screensize it works nice.
well it worked perfect on windows but just after the change on it not that good,
i tried a few live cds mint ubuntu all picked it up no problem

you mean it wasn't jerky on ubuntu?
there should be no difference between the nvidia driver on ubuntu and arch (the latter probably is a bit newer). also how the monitor is detected shouldn't make it jerky, possibly only fuzzy or distorted. if the resolution is right and the image is clear it's usually not a problem if the driver labels it wrong.
if you have multiple outputs on your videocard, you could try the other connection to see if that influences the detection. you also didn't tell if you were using a vga or a dvi/hdmi cable?
