thinkpad keys

Greetings,

I've a Thinkpad x301. Some tests and reviews I've read (mostly with Ubuntu) indicate that the audio mute and volume buttons work perfectly out-of-the-box. They do nothing on my system. I've given thought to manually mapping them to some command, but I'd rather have them do their jobs 'correctly'. Is there some stock kernel option that's not being set?

Anyone got experience getting those Thinkpad buttons working?

Thanks in advance

Re: thinkpad keys

you can try passing acpi_osi="Linux" to the kernel in grub, like this:

kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX acpi_osi="Linux"

Re: thinkpad keys

with Gnome all buttons works fine on my t400... if you have some problem you can map them with the shortcut editor or with xmodmap
