opera 10.10 qt4 request

Hello.

If I'm not mistaken, opera 10.10 qt4 version has been removed from AUR list. So I would like to ask the maintainer of that package whether he/she could put it back.

I think that some users may still benefit from 10.10 version since the new one (10.60) has some problems with fonts.

Thank you very much

You could use Arch Rolling Machine to find the package you want:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dow … g_Packages
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=53665
http://arm.konnichi.com/search/

Opera without qt is so good (not a KDE user here) and never saw better fonts within Opera in 15 years time!

Re: opera 10.10 qt4 request

Thanks a lot. Problem was that if I wanted to downgrade Opera and I downloaded original package for Arch linux (version 10.11) it gave me an error about corrupted package... But fortunately I solved the problem with the fonts - I changed the settings and somehow it works :-) And yes, new Opera is great!

Hi, ancient_archer! I have also font issues with the new version of Opera. Would you care to elaborate which settings you changed so it works for you? Thanks.

Re: opera 10.10 qt4 request

Of course mikkie!
Sorry for responding so late, I wasn't on Arch forum for a while.

So here it goes:

If you updated from 10.11 qt4 version to 10.6 version so you have all the files in .opera but just the settings changed, then do this:

edit operaprefs.ini file in the way that you delete all the lines which contain font including CSS Style sections (both author and user) but EXCLUDING lines like application/x-font-whatever and Enable Xft fonts=1.

Then run Opera and the fonts should be default for new Opera. Then go to Preferences → Webpages and check whether for normal font there is DejaVu Serif 16 and for monospace DejaVu Sans Mono 16. Then in Advanced → Fonts you can change Browsers toolbars, dialogs, panels and tooltips to Arial 12 or whatever you like. And of course, set Minimal font size (pixels) to 10 (that's how I use it). Then it should be fine

Please feedback if it works.

Re: opera 10.10 qt4 request

Well, there was only one line with "font" in the config file. Deleting the line didn't help . Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I firstly uninstalled the old version, removed all config files and then installed opera 10.60 cleanly, not upgrading it. Or the fact that the new opera no longer uses qt dependencies. The old version's fonts looked much better. Anyway, thank you for the hint, ancient_archer.

Re: opera 10.10 qt4 request

And could you explain more which font issues do you have? Because all I was dissatisfied was that Opera used different fonts as in previous versions and I wasn't used to that.

If this is not your case, then following this thread might be useful to see whether those guys have settled their problems: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=100288
