Ignore issues with pacman.conf (SOLVED)

Hi all

I don't know if i'm doing something wrong here, but I have done what the wiki suggests to ignore packages/groups

I am trying to make my system ignore any Kde packages/updates
this is what I got in my pacman.conf file

# Pacman won't upgrade packages listed in IgnorePkg and members of IgnoreGroup
IgnorePkg = xorg-server xf86-input-evdev xf86-video-vesa gtk-recordmydesktop recordmydesktop kde
IgnoreGroup = kde

But when I do a pacman -Syy and a pacman -Syu
it still tries to update kde packages as follows:

Targets (41): amsn-0.98.3-3  bluez-4.67-1  libevent-1.4.14b-1  chromium-5.0.375.99-1  curl-7.21.0-1  cmake-2.8.2-1  frostwire-4.20.7-1  gdm-2.30.4-1  gimp-2.6.9-1  git-1.7.1.1-1
              gnome-keyring-sharp-1.0.2-1  imagemagick-6.6.2.0-22  kdelibs-4.4.5-1  oxygen-icons-4.4.5-1  kdebase-runtime-4.4.5-1  kdepimlibs-4.4.5-1  kdepim-runtime-4.4.5-1  kernel26-2.6.34.1-1
              kernel26-headers-2.6.34.1-1  libarchive-2.8.4-1  libftdi-0.18-1  libid3tag-0.15.1b-5  libldap-2.4.22-1  lua-5.1.4-5  mjpegtools-1.9.0-4  mono-addins-0.5-1  mplayer-31630-1
              notify-sharp-svn-3032-2  pcre-8.10-1  perl-xml-parser-2.36-6  python-pysqlite-2.6.0-1  qtcurve-gtk2-1.5.0-1  recode-3.6-5  sane-1.0.21-3  libgexiv2-0.1.0-1  libraw-0.9.1-1
              shotwell-0.6.1-2  sudo-1.7.3-1  util-linux-ng-2.18-2  udev-158-1  udisks-1.0.1-4

Am I doing something wrong here?

thanx
kaddy

Re: Ignore issues with pacman.conf (SOLVED)

I was able to add all the kde packages that I don't want manually in the "ignorepkg" part and all is well..... but I don't understand why the "ignoregroup" section will not automatically ignore ALL kde packages so that i don't have to manually do it one by one

any idea>?

Re: Ignore issues with pacman.conf (SOLVED)

Maybe try adding all the KDE groups to IgnoreGroup:

kde-l10n
kde-meta
kde
kdeaccessibility
kdeadmin
kdeartwork
kdebase
kdeedu
kdegames
kdegraphics
kdemultimedia
kdenetwork
kdepim
kdeplasma-addons
kdesdk
kdetoys
kdeutils
kdewebdev

Re: Ignore issues with pacman.conf (SOLVED)

hey good idea.... I should of thought of that....
But somehow I thought that just adding "kde" to the ignoregroup section would automatically
ignore anything to do with kde.... perhaps not

thanx for the suggestion. That should work smile

I think IgnoreGroup does not work anymore: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19854 .   Another side effect of the group handling changes...

Re: Ignore issues with pacman.conf (SOLVED)

Actually.... I just tried it and you are correct Allan.... it did not work....
It only works when I manually add the packages into "ignorepkg"

damn.....

i'll just have to do it that way for now
