I've noticed for some time now that the KDE 3.3.2 screensaver never does anything other than leave my screen black. I haven't reported this before since it's obviously not all that important. Is there a solution to this I'm unaware of? Can't seem to find anything on this in the Search page, nor when I Google it.

What type of screensaver do you use ?
I think you're trying to load a opengl scrensaver without that option being actually set on in xorg.conf...
Or you simply need to choose a scrennsaver from the KDE Control Center.

I think the question is, how do you get more screensavers in KDE control centre? Its always been two options: blank or random on my Arch installs...
I don't know if I missed something here or not, but you can use xscreensaver instead of KDE's built-in module.

That's exactly what I do. And the screesaver shows itself working in the preview screen in the Screen Saver module. But it never works when it's supposed to automatically.

Then it's because you have an option in xorg.conf or KDE that tells the screen to shut down after 10 minutes or something like that.
Search after "Blanck time" option or asimilar option...
I'll look for it tonight if I have the time.

Yeah, I though I had a problem, then I noticed in my power settins I had my display turn off in 10 mins and that is when my screensave was to come on too.

I have no "blank" anything in my xorg.conf file. And in KDE settings, I have Power Control unchecked.
Also, if I run Xfce4 instead of KDE, all is well. The former uses Xscreensaver.

I have resolved this simply disabling KDE's screensaver and having Xscreensaver execute at startup.
