new nic = network lags

hey folks,

i installed a temporary network card and spare motherboard while i get my main motherboard fixed (i think hotplug fried it somehow :shock: ), a netgear FA311 (natsemi module) , and now i'm getting stutters and lags listening to streaming audio, or mp3/video over the LAN. where should i start looking for problems? should i maybe try a different PCI slot?

n/m - it was something in my iptables.
