Asus UL80VT info

Hi all,

I recently purchased an Asus UL80VT and reading through posts here I see that it has some problems, also I have found some info on the problems and I would like you guys confirm this info, and tell me if it is all true or there are workarounds for the problems on arch.

First I found this:

http://www.linlap.com/wiki/asus+ul80vt

Thats a summary stating what works/doesnt work on this Laptop, most important its the switchable graphics, searching around for workarounds for this I found 2, can you confirm if this can work on arch?

This first link I have no idea what the author coded in there, so I would like a little input and know if it will brake my system or not big_smile

Then I found this one, apparently some Ubuntu user found another workaround, will it work on arch?

I think the first one seems a better fix than the second one, but dont know what it does exactly.

Hope you guys can help

Re: Asus UL80VT info

Never used this laptop, nor any with switchable graphics.

Both will not break the system, but whether it'll work for you is uncertain. The first one basically is trying to turn off the nvidia card so you only use the intel (better battery life, no need for nvidia drivers). The second is to ENABLE the nvidia card. Different things... having both running alternately isn't supported in linux I think.
