HIDPoint

Hi all,

I was wondering If I could request a HIDpoint package, it's a "driver" for multimedia keyboard and mouse.

Currently having a Logitech wave keyboard with all multimedia key not working.

I am not quite sure which operating system to select?

FYI: Mouse is MX 518 Optical and the Keyboard is a Wave Corded

Doesn't really matter, it's going be kludgy anyway - go for the latest ubuntu, I guess.

You should contact the maintainers and ask them to release a source tarball, and also to provide direct download links for use in automated build systems.

Please click here for Mandriva 2010 installations instruction

    1.  If you have a previous version of HIDPoint installed, please uninstall it before installing the new build

               $ sudo -E uninstall_hidpoint

              Follow the uninstall process

     2. Remove the following folders

          $ sudo rm -rf /root/.hidpoint/
          $ sudo rm -rf $HOME/.hidpoint/

     3. Reboot the machine

     4. Set the execute permission for the downloaded hidpoint1-0.bin file

               $ chmod +x hidpoint1-0.bin

     5. To run HIDPoint on 64 OS, you first need to install 32bit libraries. In Ubuntu you can install the 32 bit libraries using the following command. 

                $ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
       
     6. Run downloaded hidpoint1-0.bin from the terminal

                $ sudo ./hidpoint1-0.bin

                Suse 11.0, Suse 11.1 and Suse 11.2  users, please run the following command       
     
       $sudo -E ./hidpoint1-0.bin
           
     7. Ubuntu 10.04, Ubuntu 9.10, Mint8, Mint9,   Suse 11.2 and Fedora 12 users will have to reboot the machine after installation for HIDPoint to detect their devices. On other OS, after installing HIDPoint, unplug your connected devices and replug them.

Is there any progress with this? I once tried to install it manually and the installation file complained about unsupported system. But this would be really nice to have feature, cos now i have to go to windows to set up mouse and keyboard properly

No news, as far as I am concern they still do not support Arch.

But well hmm, how come its not supported, its still linux. if you forget the stupid init.d daemon stuff its quite similar. Maybe i will create a virtual box arch image to play around with it. will see:)
