Hi all,
I have searched the forums and wiki and havent found the solution for this, I have conky setup so that it runs everytime I log in to gnome (Loaded it in "startup applications")
Conky load but it does so on top of all other windows and obstructing them (I have it on top right, so minimize/close buttons are obstructed) , I tried this solution:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96513
to no avail, with that conky doesnt even load.
My startup entry its just this:
conky
Should I put anyhting else in there so that this doesnt happen?
cheers
PS: If I kill conky and then load it manually (ie. typing conky in terminal) it loads correctly, no idea what that could be.

Mmmm no one can give me a tip on this? Still no idea why this is happening, maybe I need to give the process a little more time before I initiate it or something.
Any clues?

Bumbing after just one day is not really going to help.
Are you starting Gnome with GDM or xinit? If the latter, have you tried to put
(sleep 5 && conky) &
into your .xinitrc (Take it out of your startup applications first)?
Does that make a difference?

I usually get response here pretty fast so i figured. It was worth s shot. Seems like bumping did help at least you took the time to read post and reply
I start gnome with GDM place on rc.conf
I tried what you already suggested placing that command in Startup applications. But no luck

No. What I meant was:
take GDM out of /etc/rc.conf, restart, put
(sleep 5 && conky) &
exec ck-launch-session gnome-session
into your .xintrc and see what happens.
EDIT: Oh, and take it out of your Startup Applications list.

Will do and come back with results. Cant do it right now though, but as soon as I can I will. Its a cool fix because that way I can use the desktop environment I want and conky will stay the same. Right?

That's, generally speaking, correct.
Also, not sure it's actually gonna fix your problem. Just thought it's worth a shot, as the solution in the thread you linked to in your first post didn't help.
