[SOLVED] When I burn music to a CD, how can I get the titles to show?

Hi, all!

I use xfburn or Brasero to burn music to CD for listening to in my car stereo. When I add the tracks to be burnt to CD, all the file names show up correctly from the CDDB look-up. Unfortunately, when I burn them to CD, the track names do not show when I use the CD. Some years ago, I managed to get the names to show when the CD was played, but I'm not sure why it doesn't work these days.

Does anyone know how I can achieve this?

I've tried burning the music as 'data' files and also as a 'music' project, but nothing I do seems to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it didn't answer the question. I used to be able to do this under xfburn or Brasero, but it doesn't seem to have worked for a while. I will have a look at the cd burner that is mentioned, though (mcdp?).

Not sure that Xfburn has CD-Text support, but I think Brasero needs "cdrdao" (in Extra) for disk-at-once recording which is needed for CD-Text to be written to the CD's unused sub-channels.
Not using Brasero myself though, so I might be wrong.

I *think* this is done vie cuesheets. You can even write them yourself.

brasero's home page states it can write cd-text, but i haven't burned an audio cd in a long time so i don't know much about it. this page provides steps on how to burn an audio cd with cd-text from the command line by using a toc file. try it from the command line and if it doesn't work then it's probably not a brasero problem but a problem with the underlying tools used to burn audio cds.

edit:
i just noticed that on 2nd page i linked to it says the generic-mmc driver for cdrdao may not support cd-text for some burners and that if it doesn't work you should try the generic-mmc-raw driver instead. if you go to edit -> plugins on brasero you can configure cdrdao (make sure you have it installed) to use generic-mmc-raw, you may want to try doing that first
