^^^ /var/log/daemons.log.... which is the only logs in /var that show any type of errors. The Xorg.log and everything else looks fine and shows proper loading of my hardware.
Okay usually I lock my computer with gnomescreensaver either by hotkeys or an icon on the gnome-panel. Then I turn off my lcd (dvi attached) monitor. Up until a couple of days ago I had zero issues with this "habit". However, my monitor won't resync with X, or it locks up during use -- ie I was playing mplayer music and the screen froze at total blackness and speakers started squealing. If my monitor does sync or I reboot my keyboard will work in tty, but when X comes up my mouse will work but my keyboard won't. IF i detach my usb keyboard and re-attach it then it starts to work fine. Currently I have turned off all screen saving and power management to Gnome 2.30 until I can find a fix for this. My box is running X 1.8 and is up to date and synced with stock kernel, etc. Mind you this is 64 bit.

Please use code tags when posting code (I fixed this one). And, general problems don't need to be in this sub-forum.

Code tags????? Um this is a log not code.
This is for 64 bit platform is why I posted it here.

Please take no offense; You didn't do anything wrong.

It helps readability.

That's a confusing name for that sub-forum since 64 bit Linux is super well supported. I'm trying to get that one renamed.

I'm not offended in the least. I went back and was looking at the new topic link and saw the http, code, url, etc buttons. I'm not used to extra formatting like rich text or html.
Readability is definitely as must. I don't have any problem with that either
Ya I chose the 64 bit because I have 2 other 32 bit machines with Gnome and not a lick of problems. So I don't know if this is a bug, which in the 2.22 glib it was, but that was only one post on the web. It's not in Arch's bugs. Or if it is something else.
I appreciate your help skottish.

Okay... UPDATE
I have been pulling my hair out with this, but I think I finally found a solution or at least this works even if it is not the best idea.
My monitor is an LED backlight 16:9 ratio LCD that I have had for months. I was connecting it by the DVI cable on my ATI card and to the monitor. Now somehow recently I would have loss of pixelation issues, the monitor would go black but if I switched throught th TTY's back to 7 I would get Gnome back with VLC playing. VLC, Gstreamer, Alsa-Libs all seem to be playing a part. VLC would start the process by making the screen go black, lock up sometimes and/or eventually play a movie but when it came back on everything had a blue tint. Now Ubuntu has a bug listed for VLC and the NV drivers for this blue tint. The only thing is I have an ATI card. So I switched from DVI to VGA cable/hookups. I had to futz around with colors after adjusting as much as I could with gtreamer-properties to fix the blue. It's at about 90%. I'll keep playing. Alsa-libs is 1 revision out of sync with VLC, but I ran and built my own alsa-libs and bumped the revision up one from ABS and it still shows the error even when I tell it never to show again. I am turning the screensaver backon. Mplayer and the Gnome Movie player have perfect tint and sound so I'm left in a quandry about what is running different.

Okay it has been 48 hours since I made the changes written above. I am marking this as solved because I have not had one issue since these changes.
Minus the fact I'm looney....
