GRUB Cannot find drive with any new kernel

I have a question with hopefully an easy answer.

I have been trying to install a git kernel to get my HD5770 running. I've built from source, used pacman, made packages, and with every kernel, when i tried to load it i get a grub error. "Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by/uuid, or even /dev/sda1.

I've modified previous kernel listings (the fallback, etc) so it's not naming that's wrong.. i've disabled autodetect from HOOKS in mkinitcpio from some google searching.. this appears to be my last step in getting the radeon driver working. please help, thanks.

Re: GRUB Cannot find drive with any new kernel

falconindy helped out in IRC. Turns out i never actually loaded the new kernel in grub.

old: kernel /vmlinuz26
new: kernel /vmlinuz26-git
