Hey, I am getting hard lockups without any errors during boot, the kernel will load the ata subsystem and list my ata devices then lockup, or will get to the mounting before loading initrd and lockup. I think this is only since .34. Im at a loss of how to start debugging this, is there anything in the config i can enable to get some output?

So no errors in any logs? dmesg doesn't show anything interesting?

Just freezes during boot, no output through dmesg on errors. Keyboard doesnt work (at least num lock doesnt respond)

Try to fsck the drives but I honestly don't know what's going on.

Its strange, I have windows on the same disk and have no problems.

have you tried a roll back in chroot environment or boot with any working kernel image?

Its intermittent and occurring at different points during boot which is so odd. I did an fsck -f and it found an incorrect bitmap on the partition but that should cause lock ups?

may be. one way to check the repeatability of the error is the usual 5 step process i used to follow ie backup / delete the partion/ create new one / restore the backup / adjust the fstab & menu.lst accordingly.
