You're downloading the web page instead of the the link - 'Save page as' vs 'Save link as'.

You should be able to mouse-over the link and make sure it is pointing to the file you want to download and isn't just some sort of redirection link.

When I click "Download linked file" happen this:
--2010-07-26 14:57:19-- ftp://javascript/Subtitle(198669,%20zip,%200,%200);
=> "Subtitle(198669, zip, 0, 0)"

What page exactly is it? Maybe you need to click the link, a pop-up window opens and then you click another link to get the file.

The page is http://subscene.com with any subtitle.

javascript:DownloadSubtitle();
I was right, you need to click (just use left mouse button, no need to use 'Download link as ...') on the 'Download Subtitle' links and it will download to your drive.

this downloads me a .aspx instead of .zip, or did you enable something for javascript?

Ummm ... That's weird, I could swear I could download that file but now somehow I can't ...
Sorry, it seems that uzbl, jumanji and surf have a problem but Chromium can download that damn file.
You know what the really funny thing is? When you click 'Download subtitle' another text appears below: 'Download problems?' - right? Well, it should read 'Download problems? Click here' - the 'click here' part is a link to an 'Alternative download page' with a direct download. The 'click here' part doesn't appear in Chromium, but that browser can download the zip so it doesn't need it.
I get the following info:
--2010-07-26 16:44:46-- ftp://javascript/DownloadSubtitle();
=> `DownloadSubtitle()'

Thanks karol

You can post in jumanji or uzbl threads. I'm not using those browsers so maybe I don't have some settings enabled.
Firefox has no such problems :-)

Same behavior in midori. Could it be a webkit problem?

Chromium works OK.

i had no such problems in midori, gave me a zip file
for instance, this link here - http://subscene.com/indonesian/Kick-Ass … 49278.aspx
go to that link, then press the 'download indonesian subtitle' for example, some text appears underneath, just click on the 'download subtitle' and the zip is offered up

Tried again. It appears to work in Midori now but not in Jumanji. So there obviously seems to be a problem with javascript handling in the latter.
BTW: It was just bad luck when I tried before. The DOM element I klicked was empty. This has been fixed in the meantime.

Can you download with jumanji now? And how?

Nope. Still no chance in jumanji.

This seems to be a wget problem. In dwb downloads from subscene only work with the webkit builtin download manager. I also tested it in Jumanji and It would also work in Jumanji with the webkit download manager.

I'm not sure if it's a problem w/ wget per se, rather how wget is called.
I think chromium uses the builtin download manager and it works fine, so you're right.

It works with wget, if the --referer option would be set, but there is no way to set it in jumanji.
