DWM: Unicode?

EDITTED: Pics are from when I used awesome, but now I'm back to DWM.

When I used pango patch, I get something like what I did when I used awesome (huge japanese):

It also gave me a ton of extra useless crap like anti alias settings that I don't want.

DWM without pango or Dzen2 output this:
"supercell feat. =i2;%_%/ - Nx$O@oAh"

I'd prefer to avoid pango.

I want it to appear exactly like it does in urxvt/ncmpcpp

I use this one: http://www.suchapara.lad.jp/font/sample/system.html
It's only kana though.

Re: DWM: Unicode?

Yes, but I'd like to continue using ProggyTinyTTSZ, but allow the Japanese to be rendered however urxvt is doing it.

Re: DWM: Unicode?

So the same font settings do different things? URxvt is a lot smarter with fonts.

Does it work with just fixed though? Maybe something like *-fixed-*-10-*iso10646* for the title bar. If that works maybe the main font isn't giving a compatible setting with fixed.

When I do this, it just changes the font to terminus.

Re: DWM: Unicode?

Then I guess it's time to show your theme.lua, isn't it? wink

Re: DWM: Unicode?

It's a long shot, but have you played around with the DPI font settings? Maybe lowering the DPI might get the Japanese font smaller.

Re: DWM: Unicode?

I have. Also, I'd like to apologize for making another thread. Just cleaned this one up with all up to date information.

Re: DWM: Unicode?

bump - at this point I'll use any bar that supports UTF-8 encoding (dzen2 doesn't)
