Hi everyone !
I've installed archlinux with openbox only and i have a strange issue . I've noticed that pacman and generally the webpages take some time to start connecting
I use ethernet to connect and i don't have this issue with winxp . I've never had this issue with gnome so i don't know what might be the cause . THe download speed is fine , i get full speeds
from downloads but when i use pacman or firefox it takes a long time to connect to webpages or find the packages with pacman .
Thanks for your help everyone

Try disabling the IPv6 module
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/IPv … the_Module
(you can ignore the last line about rebuilding the kernel ram disk)
It worked for myself and many others, and I'm betting that's what is slowing you down too.
You'll have to restart after you add that line to modprobe.conf for it to take effect.
