DVD & CD Playback Problems

I'm heaving a heck of a time playing back things like DVDs and CDs on my system. I hae two drives, one DVD+-RW drive and a Blu-Ray drive. I tried to play a DVD using SMPlayer and couldn't get it to work in either drive. I tried every device listed under the Drives option and they all returned the same message in the MPlayer log, "no media present". I then tried just playing a DVD using MPlayer and only got it to work using my Blu-Ray drive. That wouldn't be such a problem, but I would rather not put extra wear on it then need-be. It also makes playing DVDs with more than one movie or episode on them difficult.

I also have problems with CDs when playing them in DeadBeef. Just like MPlayer, it only plays from my Blu-Ray drive and not my DVD drive. Like I mentioned above, I would rather keep my Blu-Ray drive strictly for Blu-Ray, especially since I have to rip them first in-order to play them. Trying to keep the wear down as much as possible on it.

Re: DVD & CD Playback Problems

It's connected. I can access it using k3b, cdrecord, and dvd+rw-tools to erase and burn discs.
