Upload to AUR down?

Hi all,

Ive been using Arch Linux for 3-4 months now and I really like it. So I figured I would contribute to it by making a package.

The package is made following all the instructions for how to build it using a PKGBUILD and makepkg, followed by makepkg --source to create a archive to upload, and running namcap against it. I have also installed it and verified that it works on my own system.

But when trying to upload the file, I get "Error - No file uploaded" after a period of "Waiting for server". Is there a problem with the server at the moment?

Re: Upload to AUR down?

Works fine here, just updated a package. Can you post the PKGBUILD?

Re: Upload to AUR down?

The package is uploaded now. I had not mirrored the abs tree before because I didnt think it was necessary. Turns out if was. smile

Vala 0.9.4 is now available in the AUR.

Re: Upload to AUR down?

Obviuosly it is already deleted again. Please do not upload packages that are already in the repos or AUR. vala is in [extra] and vala-devel is in AUR.

The ABS tree is not necessary for uploading to the AUR.

Re: Upload to AUR down?

Ok, thanks for all the information.

But since vala-devel is at 0.9.2 and vala is at 0.8.1, how would one contribute the latest version of this package?

Do we have to wait for the original maintainer of vala-devel to update it to 0.9.4 or how does it work?

Just flag the package out-of-date on the AUR page. If you have a working PKGBUILD, pastebin it (there's a link on the AUR page) and post the link too (which could be useful for both the maintainer and anyone who doesn't want to wait for the update). If the maintainer doesn't update the package within 2 weeks, post a message to the aur-general mailing list with a link to the package requesting that the package be orphaned. You can then adopt it and update it yourself. smile
