i have an eeepc 701 4g.
i used to have arch linux on an old slow desktop and it was awesome. the install was pretty trouble free.
on the eeepc its a bloody nightmare.
i have followed all the directions as closely as i could but now when i try to reboot into my new system i am getting this error:
the symbol 'lid disk larell.' no found
Aborted. Press any key to exit.
(i press enter)
Reboot and Select proper boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key
what do i do.
Ubuntu Netbook edition works like a charm. other than the 2.8gb it takes up and the slowness of it.
last time i installed arch on a pc i just booted off a cd, and installed it easy as pie.
this is nothing like i remember. endless config files, the most daft grub installer i have ever seen etc.
whats going on?

okay i changed it.
have no idea what 'lid disk larell.' is
i put it into google and got "were you looking for laurel" and a bunch of laurel and hardy pictures. (almost appropriate)

Weird; have you tried re-installing? I ran into an issue the day before yesterday doing a fresh Arch install. I found after installing base that all my config files were blank. I started over, doing everything the same but just a second time and it worked fine the second time.

The Eee PC specific ones, or the standard Beginners Guide? I ran into problems with the former, but installed Arch without a hitch on my Eee 701 by following the standard installation procedure.
