Hi ppl.
I used Gnome DE on Ubuntu before.
Now I installed it as a secondary DE on Arch.
But I am missing the administration menu just like it appears in Ubuntu.
Is it normal that there is only System > Preferences, but not System > Administration ?

oh, its autogenerated
see /usr/share/desktop-directories/Settings-System.directory file
When you instal an app like Startup Disk Creator [usb-creator], It will add an .desktop icon inside the "Settings/System" menu.
When there is not Icons to show, it's hidden (the submenu).
Agh, i still sux at english.
To add new app icons, you must make .destop files inside "/home/perberos/.local/share/applications" by example.
And quote the question, yes, an empty installation, the system menu, like ubuntu, will not shown because there is not icon to show.
...ok, killme.

1) ubuntu arranges the menu in his way and we use vanilla packages
2) administration menu will appear after installing gnome-system-tools.
the question is what are you trying to find in "administration menu" ?
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Thank you for your answers.
Installing gnome-system-tools solved this "problem". I just had to manually add gnome-control-center to menu to display control centers launcher.
I just want to add that I have KDE, Gnome, Xfce, Flux and E17 installed and all is working well. No mixed icons or cursors. Just few association problems and everything else is in place.
Thx for your help

This was the first thread my search turned up and it solved my problem. For me, it was "users and groups". Wanted to delete a user. If I ever knew how to do it from the command line, I've forgotten.
Thanks
