Did a system upgrade recently and now, when logging in to my desktop from GDM, the hard drive stays active for up to three times longer than before!
What could this be?
I saw a message in the pacman log saying that system-tools-backends (required by gnome-system-tools) automatically loads at startup now, instead of adding a daemon. Could this be the issue?
Any ideas what else might be causing prolonged hard drive activity? I hate prolonged hard drive activity it reminds me of Windows where your hard drive constantly is active forever! haha.

Cool, iotop shows some interesting stuff. However, it appears that this IO access happened only one time on the first time I booted after updates. All subsequent boots appear to be normal though.
The only things I see accessing I/O now is [jbd2-sbd4-8] and [jbd2-sbd3-8] every few seconds, but I've seen these in the forums so I'll go have a look at what I can gather.
Thanks for introducing me to iotop ngoonee. ![]()
