First time installing Arch for me, i'm currently at the partitioning stage, choosing the auto-prepare option to erase the hd and set up the partitions for me, though should i change the default recommended sizes for earch partition? or should i change them?

That depends on what you need. For me, the auto-partitioning is fine, so I don't change anything.
