Here is my xorg.conf :
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Option "TripleBuffer" "True"
Option "BackingStore" "True"
Option "Coolbits" "1"
EndSection
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Keyboard Defaults"
MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
Option "XkbLayout" "it"
EndSection
As you can see I set Coolbits as explained in the wiki (I think). In fact I am sure it worked in the past: I usually downclock the card so the fan goes slowly and I hear less noise.
But it seems it does not work anymore, what can I try?
Thanks

Have you run "nvidia-settings" to make sure you have enabled PowerMizer and/or set your Enable Overclocking switch to be on?

The menu of Powermizer is there, but I have only one strategy available: the fastest.
There is no apparently way to enable the overclocking and the overclocking menu with the sliding bars is not there at all.
[Edit]
Got it, the configuration is not in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf.... ops.
