Not exactly sure what's going on. Checked a few sites. can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Last time I installed Arch all of my sound worked perfectly, this time it didn't, so I tried doing some tweaks and modifications, Just can't get it going. Downloaded everything dealing with Pulseaudio and Alsa, tried doing some modifications, still haven't gotten anywhere, so I figured I'll ask here.
Anyone who has any ideas, no matter what it is, I'll give it a shot, I'm pretty much 100% setup (Wine, Flash, Nvidia drivers, programs I need, etc), sounds the only thing holdin me back.
Thanks
- Myst
Tests:
added !snd-pcm-oss & !snd_pcsp (According to something I read online dealing with snd-hda-intel)
Added options "snd-hda-intel index=0 model=auto" to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf (no "s)
Computer Specs
Asus Model G72GX Laptop
Core2Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz
6GB DDR2
320GB Western Digital Drive
Nvidia 260M
snd-hda-intel is what pops up in sound checks.
Kernel version 2.6.33

I'd recommend a step-by-step approach, as pulseaudio is on top of alsa. first things first. is alsa already working? are the channels unmuted? what's the output of
# alsamixer
can your hear something with :
# aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
(taken from the archwiki)
if this works, which kind of environment do you use? shell or x11? why do you try to start pulseaudio as a daemon , it's not recommended by the pa-developer anyway (at least when working with a graphical environment). The rlght way to start is via autostart of
# start-pulseaudio-x11
give it a try.
