virtualbox, arch guest, vboxvideo

Do anyone have accelerated video working in an arch guest on windows host ?

I always get this in xorg log :
[    50.809] (EE) AIGLX error: vboxvideo does not export required DRI extension
[    50.810] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering

I suspect the reason is vboxvideo dont support the xorg-server in arch (1.8.1.902-1).

Do you have Guest Additions installed? The wiki says they enable better video.

Re: virtualbox, arch guest, vboxvideo

yes, everything works fine except that i cant get anti-aliased fonts and it would be nice to try out some accelerated 3D on the arch guest.
Are you saying that you have accelerated video in your arch guest ?

Re: virtualbox, arch guest, vboxvideo

I think its working...  It says it is.

3D openGL is fast.  A lot faster (at least an order of magnitude) than if I turn off hardware acceleration.   That is the main reason I moved over from VMWare.

What is your video architecture? Intel G45 i915 here.

Did you install guest additions on the host or on the guest?

Okay, I think I see the disconnect. I missed this subtlety in reading your post.  My host is Arch Linux:

Linux odin 2.6.35-ARCH #2 SMP PREEMPT Sat Aug 14 21:58:00 CEST 2010 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6400 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

My guest is Windows XP.  with VirtutalBox additions 3.2.8r64453.  The Windows Driver for the VirtualBox Graphic Adapter is 3.2.8.0.  Other than that, Windows is rather secretive as to what is going on under the hood.

At $DAYJOB, I have the a Windows host running an Arch Linux guest.  I have not but an effort into accelerated graphics (I use it mostly for network diagnostics).  If you are still having issues on by Monday, I'll look at that machine.

virtualbox guest additions doesn't support Xorg 1.8 yet.

No joy :-(

I spent the better part of my lunch break on it.  I fear Dyscoria may be correct.
Sorry about that.
