udev switches video mode when booting - screen not readable [SOLVED]

This is a fresh install of the newest Arch updated with pacman -Su. When my systems boots, udev is switching the video mode to something that is not supported by my Samsung LCD TV. Even after checking in /var/log/messages, I'm not sure what mode is being selected. Google searches had a simple answer - set your video mode in GRUB and udev will just use that. That did not work. I set vga=ask in GRUB and tried a bunch of different modes and udev always resets the video card.I am using a brand new Nvidia 210 video card.

How/why is this happening? Is there a config somewhere that will allow me to either select a standard VGA mode or text mode?

What driver are you using? Is it nvidia or nouveau? Nouveau uses KMS by default.

Well, I don't know. I didn't install anything so it is what comes on the disk. How can I check? BTW - Xorg is not installed yet. That was my next task when I can read the screen again.

I solved my problem, but I'll have to research why. I blacklisted nouveau in rc.conf. Booting now keeps the resolution set in GRUB
