syslog-ng fails to start, unresolved reference

when trying to start syslog-ng, i get this error:

unresolved reference: f_syslmg
Error initializing configuration, exiting.

and it fails to start. any ideas what may be causing this? i noticed it at boot, and tried starting in manually with the same result.

Reinstall the syslog package and if it does not work, try
sysklogd or metalog.

guess i'll just use metalog since no one seems to have an answer...

(btw- i realize now i posted this in the wrong section, most likely, but i couldn't figure out where it -would- fit)

You're right but your problem does not really fit to any other category.

i'll keep that in mind in the future. i'm an admin on my own board and was a mod on another, so i always try to find the right topic to save others work

anyways, i uninstalled and reinstalled both syslog-ng and firestarter and it all works now.
