[Solved] KDE 4.5 icons problem

Hi all, i've just updated to KDE 4.5 on a Nvidia card and without deleting .kde4/
As soon as i changed sessions, something strange has happened to file type associations: only movie, music and pictures lost their association icons. Yeah, only the icons, as i can still open them in the right program doubleclicking them, as usual. This strange thing didn't occur for archives, pdf, text, shell, exe files... Instead, e.g. for mp3, it shows the classic white sheet with a blue '?'.
Does someone know a solution?

Have you tried to rename your .kde4 folder to e.g. .kde4_backup and then let KDE create a new .kde4 folder?

i would like to avoid losing all of my configuration; i hoped we could at least narrow it down to only a few files in there...

Re: [Solved] KDE 4.5 icons problem

Have you tried to reapply the oxygen icon theme? Just click Oxygen at Icon settings module and press Apply, it refreshes the icons even if you are using that theme already. If the problem relies in userconfigs I would bet that this would solve it, I haven't had the problem you are having so this is only a hunch.

I was using ArchLinux icons pack that 'should' inherit Oxygen. Switching back to Oxygen fixed it, thank you smile
Now to report this problem to the devels...

EDIT: reported here [http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/20618]
