Is OpenOffice will be dropped by Oracle?
what the best alternative Office application?

I haven't heard about Oracle dropping OpenOffice and I can't say what will then happen.

OpenOffice is free, Oracle OpenOffice is not, but you don't have to buy Oracle OO if the regular one suits you fine.

And here you have Koffice mentioned. :-)
