So i haven't upgraded my computer in a while and i'm stuck with an 8800GTS. But i'm gonna get an upgrade next week, and since i'm getting an AMD 1090T, i realize there aren't any good nForce mobo's these days. So i'm considering getting the Crosshair IV Formula, but if i wanna upgrade my gfx card it'd make more sense to get an ATI, for the crosshair (futureproofing). Since i wouldn't be able to run SLI, it'd be pretty stupid to stick with Nvidia.
I don't remember ATI drivers being awful when i had an x800xt, 4 years ago. They actually ran better in wine than the Nvidia card i upgraded to. So is the whole ATI drivers being bad thing blown out of proportion? And what's the ATI equivalent to twinview?

They are bad. Not "that" bad like they were last year, but still bad.
The opensource one has great potential, but it just started having basic 2D and KMS for the HD5xxx cards.

There is enough information about the current state of ATI available on the forums, closing this one.
