[SOLVED] Mouse not working

Hello there,
I have installed xfce4 and xf86-input-mouse/synaptics/keyboard, and my mouse worked fine, but after installing alsa, for some reason, my mouse stopped working. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue?

I am running the latest and greatest arch with all updates...

Did you have dbus or/and hal running?
What mouse (wireless or wired, PS, usb,  ...)?
Did you check the wire and/or usb/ps conection?

you are right, I overlooked that hal wasn't active. Thanks a lot, now it works!
