[SOLVED] ettercap-gtk error as root - "GTK+ failed to initialize"

Hi guys,

On my KDE install, I get this error whenever I run "sudo ettercap-gtk -G".

ettercap NG-0.7.3 copyright 2001-2004 ALoR & NaGA

No protocol specified

GTK+ failed to initialize. Is X running?

I have qtcurve-gtk2 and qtcurve-kde4 installed. This error started occuring after a recent update.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Thank you for the help fellas.

the new sudo version now doesn't export the user environment. you need to configure sure first

sudo visudo

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Wonder, thank you for the hint.

Using the '-E' option with sudo solved the problem,

$ sudo -E ettercap-gtk -G
