I have been having big load averages and after some reading I found out that a lot of people using kernel 2.6.35 are having the same issues. To i decided to use the arm to rollback to juli of this year. Now I'm thinking about removing the arm links from my pacman configuration and putting kernel26 in ignorePkg for a while.
I'm yet not sure if it's a safe way and won't cause more problems
Edited: By arm I mean the Arch Rollback Machine described here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dow … ckages#ARM

Dunno what 'the arm' is but you can ignore kernel26 in /etc/pacman.conf just fine.

ARM = http://arm.kh.nu/search/
I currently have kernel in IgnorePkg, no problems with that.

the arm is Arch Rollback Machine. Check wiki.

Yeah, but written like that it may not be obvious, that it's an acronym, maybe somehow you're referring to your hand :-)

I think I'll do that and just use the daily updated mirrors again, I suppose nvidia 256.44 will just be ignored since it depends on the newest kernel?

Pacman won't upgrade if it can't satisfy dependencies, but it's best to explicitly say which packages to ignore.

Alright, guess if I just put nvidia and kernel26 in it, it will be just fine. Thanks!

There's only one way to find out. If it isn't you can always abort the upgrade and add it to the list.
edit: bit too slow..

Well I just did the update, ignoring kernel26, nvidia and nvidia-utils
Everything seems to be just fine, still at kernel 2.6.34 and load averages are fine
So if anyone else has the same problem, you can do it this way ![]()
