Hi to everyone:
I have installed Arch Linux in one Toshiba Satellite U505-S2006, and I can't see the wireless card.
[root@mylaptop ~]# iwconfig

[root@mylaptop ~]# ifconfig

The hardware wireless chip is not registering with lspci, so I suspect it is turned off. On the Toshiba's there is usually a small wireless ON/OFF switch on the thin front face of the unit. Check that - there should also be a little light that shows the wireless unit has been enabled. If that does not work make sure the wireless is enabled in your BIOS.

Hi to everyone:
First, the wireless nic was active, and worked on M$-Window$. But the last kernel (2.6.35) doesn't have built-in support for this nic.
So, therefore we must compile the driver. I downloaded the driver for RTL8192SE from Realtek.
After I extracted the file and joined to the folder:
[root@mylaptop ~]#tar xvf rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0017.0705.2010.tar.gz
[root@mylaptop ~]#cd rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0017.0705.2010
I ran the final process:
[root@mylaptop rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0017.0705.2010]#make && make install
I loaded and listed the module and the device:
[root@mylaptop rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0017.0705.2010]# modprobe r8192se_pci
[root@mylaptop ~]# lsmod | grep r8192se_pci
r8192se_pci 499068 0
[root@mylaptop ~]#
[root@mylaptop rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0017.0705.2010]# lspci -k

Hi to everyone:
I have installed the fnfx package from AUR for the special keys, but it doesn't works.
When I launch the fnfx command, the system shows this:
[user@mylaptop ~]$ fnfx
FnFX Client v0.3 (c) 2003, 2004 Timo Hoenig <thoenig@nouse.net>
fatal error: Failed to get id of shared memory segment. Please make sure that the daemon 'fnfxd' is running.
[user@mylaptop ~]$
I tried search and launch the daemon but the system shows this:
[user@mylaptop ~]$ whereis fnfxd
fnfxd: /usr/sbin/fnfxd
[user@mylaptop ~]$
[root@mylaptop sbin]# fnfxd
FnFX Daemon v0.3 (c) 2003, 2004 Timo Hoenig <thoenig@nouse.net>
fatal error: Could open /proc/acpi/toshiba/keys.
Please make sure that your kernel has enabled the Toshiba option in the ACPI section.
For more information read the documentation and/or http://fnfx.sf.net/index.php?section=doc#kernel.
[root@mylaptop sbin]#
Someone else with the same problem ... anyone knows how to fix it?

I understand fnfx only works with certain older version of Toshiba BIOS's. Therefore, if you want special function keys to work you might have to resort to other methods, such as mapping them yourself and how you do this depends on your window manager.
