[Closed] 32-bit Color?

Hope I'm not in the wrong board.
Have recently installed Arch with Openbox, and I'm not having a terrible amount of trouble with it, except for enabling 32-bit color. I know in Linux "24 is 32" when dealing with the display's color mode, but even with all subsections of "Screen" in my xorg.conf having Depth set to 24, Tint2 still says "No 32 bit visual for your X implementation." and I can't get true transparency to work in urxvt (had another thread in Desktop Environments but nothing happened).
When I first got Openbox up and running and installed/configured urxvt, true transparency worked! But then I tried a different compositing manager, and when that failed to work as desired I returned to Xcompmgr-git, but now, as stated above, urxvt doesn't support true transparency and neither does tint2.

TL;DR
Can someone point out a surefire method to set my display's color depth to 32-bit?

I'm wondering the same thing, and why it's such a big deal to get 32 bit color when Windows has had it forever.

you probably need a compositing manager. xcompmgr is the one to use for openbox i think

"You can watch for your administrator to install the latest kernel with watch uname -r" - From the watch man page

Re: [Closed] 32-bit Color?

Is your goal to have 32 bit color support or to have transparency in tint2 and urxvt?

If you want 32 bit color support, for what reason? What is the difference between 24 and 32 bit color to you?

If you want transparency, you mentioned that it used to work perfectly. But then it stopped working perfectly. Do you know why? Can we help you get it back to the way it was working before?

Oh geez, I forgot to close this.
I reinstalled a while back and now all's working just about perfectly.
My cursor disappears in uRXVT but I've read that it's a bug with Xorg or some such thing. No biggie really.
Anyhoo, closing time!
