preemptive or volontary

i'm just wondering why the stock arch kernel is a preemptive one

in most of my working conditions a volontary preemptive kernel is giving me a lot better performance and satisfation

when you build applications ( compiling and stuff ) and do a lot of cpu intensive stuff, your desktop starts lagging and stuttering when using a preemptive kernel, with the volontary one, no big issues like the stuttering, it just keeps on working like you want it, sometimes a little slower but never lagging and stuttering

so just wondering why preemtive ?
