HI,
Finally, my new powerful PC is on its way.
Both PCs, old and new, will be connected to a wired 100MB/Sec LAN (via switch) and are/will be configured as follows:
Old PC: Dual boot Arch 32b/ext 4 home/ KDE 4.5.1 (latest) + XP 32b (NTFS) updated.
New PC: Dual boot- Arch 64b/ext 4 home/ KDE 4.5.1 (or later) + Win 7 64b (NTFS).
Running Arch (not MS..) on both PCs, I'd like to transfer MOST (but not all) of my Arch /home and MOST of XP/My Documents+ folders (including files and sub-folders) from the old to the new PC.
I estimate the total data volume o be transferred about 400 GByte.
What's the best way to accomplish this:
1. rsync
2. Dolphin/Samba
3. or else?
Thanks
Best regards,
Michael Badt

rsync should have less overhead compared to samba if you're transferring over LAN.
it seems to me that the quickest way would be to just dump the drives from your old pc in the new system and copy things over with your random file manager of choise
