laptop become idle

Hi,
I have a fujitsu siemens laptop with an ati hd 2400 integrated video card. If I don't move the mouse for a few seconds, the system freeze.
I think is because I have an integrated video card, and when the video card become idle, the motherboard become idle too.
I have this problem only after I start xorg + gnome.
Thanks

Re: laptop become idle

I have the same problem, so far only in Gnome and Openbox, KDE runs fine. When mouse is idle, music goes into like 1-2 second loop, downloads stop etc. Same thing on Ubuntu for that matter. Looking for explanation and solution for months, but nothing yet.

EDIT: Add clocksource=acpi_pm nohz=off to the menu.lst in grub's directory. This disables so called dynamic ticks introduced in kernel 2.6.21-rc1 and, at least for me, solves the issue.
