From boot log (modified text):

Starting rpcbind [fail]
Starting FAM [fail]
error: rpcbind is not running

How to fix it? Why do I have this problem?

Re: FAM failed to boot...

Try out gamin, it's replacing fam for everything. You don't have to put it in rc.conf, because it starts automatically. Btw, have you tried backgrounding some daemons to speed up boottime?

Gamin starts automatically? Without putting it in into rc.conf?

have you tried backgrounding some daemons to speed up boottime?

Why would I do that? Boot time of my PC is perfectly fine to me...

Re: FAM failed to boot...

Not really an answer to your question but have you tried using gamin instead of fam ? It works as a drop in replacement, does not require a daemon to run and depends only on glib2 (probably already pulled in by something else anyway).

Edit: seems I type too slow smile

Re: FAM failed to boot...

I deleted fam and installed gamin. Looks like no more such errors... Thanks. I'll try to remember not to use fam any more.
