"suspend" button doesn't work, no "hibernate" button either.

When I press the "suspend" button in the Gnome shutdown dialog, the computer appears to go into sleep mode, but then when i move the mouse or press any buttons, the computer will never wake up, just a black screen! Also, i don't have a "hibernate" button.

Can someone point me in the right direction to make "suspend" work and/or add the "hibernate" button?

Thanks! smile

How do you start Gnome?

Hi loafer. I use the simple "inittab metthod" so the computer boots into runlevel 5 and GDM starts.

Are you starting consolkit in your .xinitrc?  If not try doing so.
