X not working properly on random times

I had this problem for a while and now it's starting to piss me off really bad. The problem is that on random times when I start the notebook, X does not work properly. It displays the mouse cursor and the wallpaper. Keys are not working, dzen2 is not showing up, I can only move my cursor around. To fix this I have to first kill X and then remove .X0-lock from tmp. Then if I start X again it magically works.

I'm using xmonad and at first I thought it could be a problem with xmonad but after trying other WM like scrotwm and dwm I can say that it's not. I've looked thru the log files but nothing shows up. TTY is also clean. At this point I don't know what to check for anymore.

Anyone has even the slightest idea of what might be going on ? If so please share, I'd like to fix this annoyance.
