Hi all, I just bought Nero Linux 4 (amazing burning solution), and I don't want brasero anymore, I never liked it, it has to few options for me, so I want to remove it but keep the command line tools that brasero uses as a backend (cdrao, growisofs and stuff like that).
When I do:
sudo pacman -Rs brasero
I get the following:
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: sound-juicer: requires brasero>=2.30.0
I get the same error if I do pacman -R brasero.
Is this heavily integrated into gnome-nautilus that uninstalling it may cause problems or something like that?
What is sound juicer? Is that the program that allows you to burn directly from nautilus?
regards and thanks in advance

Just remove sj first... it's a CD ripping util. You already bought nero so it's kind of a mute point... k3b is just as good and it's free

'pacman -Qi sound-juicer', visit their website etc.

I beg to differ there, K3B is indeed good and a lot better than brasero, But I tried to make a custom bootable cd with it and couldnt (custom img and some files), brasero didnt even had the option to do it.
Also I have used nero for a long time now and I find it very powerfull, and the package on the AUR makes it a breeze to install and it runs flawlessly
If I would to give a score to those 3 programs, I would say:
brasero: 7
k3b:8.5
Nero Linux 4: 10
Just my 2 cents

Why use nero? It costs money. My favorite solution so far is xfburn.

Good things cost money ;P Just because you don't _have to_ pay for Arch or xfburn doesn't mean you can't donate some money. If OP thinks it's worth it, let him buy whatever he wants.
I happily pad for Unreal Tournament 2004 because it's a great and extendable game. Other games just don't cut it.
BTW, 655321, please mark the topic as [solved].

Sorry. I didn't mean it costs money as something like that.

well, there are also free things that are good there are free things that are better than some paid stuff, but this is not the case with cd burning software in my opinion, the ones I have found free just dont cut it.
Thats the beauty of linux in my opinion, you have so many to choose from. Think of it this way, you are a software developer and are thinking of porting your application to linux, if no one buys it, well, then whats the point of porting it? purchases like that encourage Developers to make more applications linux friendly (paid or not) because they see some revenue in doing it.
