[SOLVED] Display Openbox Desktop Name

After spending the day searching the web and these forums without finding what I'm looking for I decided to post.

I've named my desktops "main", "www", etc and I would like to have the name appear somewhere so I can easily tell which desktop I'm currently on.

I'm currently using openbox, tint2, and conky.I currently have tint2 displayed vertically on  the right side of my screen. Being installed on a netbook I find this gives me better use of my screen area.

I haven't been able to figure out how to get desktop names in tint2. Can this be done somehow?

I've tried putting "$desktop_name" in my .conkyrc file but all I got was a blank space. Am I missing something here or can this be accomplished in conky?

I've used pypanel in the past on another computer, but I can't figure out how to get it to display vertically on the left. Is it possible?

Thanks.

Edit:  Boy do I feel stupid!! I had misspelled $desktop_name in my .conkyrc. Things are working as I wanted now.
