I installed the vmware follow the document of wiki (http://wiki2.archlinux.org/index.php/In … g%20Vmware). And the vmware works well, untill I update my kernel of linux……
After I update kernel to 2.6.11, I run the script "vmware-config.pl" in order to recompile the modules of vmware.
But it says:
LD [M] /tmp/vmware-config2/vmnet-only/vmnet.o
Building modules, stage 2.

There is probably a slight difference in the kernel configuration between the
set of C header files you specified and your running kernel. You may want to
rebuild a kernel based on that directory, or specify another directory.

Same here. Has anyone an idea what might be wrong?

I'll try it now
EDIT:
It works .

When I used VMware on Gentoo, I had to apply the latest "any-any" patch to it when I upgraded my kernel.
Just grab the latest patch from this server and run the update script. Then run vmware-config.pl again and it should compile the needed modules.
I've been using those patches for a year and they always worked.
[edit]
I didn't check the URL you posted, luisfeser. It seems the thread has the same solution as I posted.
Rule of thumb: whenever VMware gives you trouble after upgrading/changing your kernel, go get an any-any patch.

On my desk I have a workstation.

Yes, is the same solution
The only thing to do is exec the runme program of the any-any-patch and it configure the vmware instalation automatically.

Thanks a lot!
