[SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

Hi Archers,
I run openbox for a while, everything was ok (and I was able to play gta:sa and mafia in wine without problems, I use catalyst from aur). I tried gnome and kde, I did some pacman -S and -Rscn (removed, installed and removed gnome and kde). Now my slim and gdm won't start openbox, well... I'm able to see feh background and moving cursor, but second later xorg is restarted, gnome starts without any problem. This problem occurs when I want to start (fullscreen) game in wine and even those that run properly before do the thing like starting openbox.
I'm not much familiar with logs and I dont know which one should I post....

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

We will start with /var/log/Xorg.0.log, just please use https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode [code ] tags if you paste it here or use http://pastebin.com/

Do those games crash when run not-fullscreen?

Even fullscreen games have this problem. I noticed that there is ATI 9500 graphics card in setup of games, but I have 4530... maybe catalyst issue?
Talking about this, I would like to ask how big is a difference between opensource and closed source ATI drivers in 3D/gaming performance?

    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"

EndSection

There is no line with "PCI:1:0:1", do i have to correct this?

Those days when my problems have started I was also trying to connect my LCD (succesfully), dunno if it is relevant...

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

I honestly don't know what's all that about.
Are you sure you need two device sections?

Maybe you remember when everything was working OK and you can try that version of wine etc.

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

I removed xorg.conf and created new one with aticonfig --initial. Did not help. I could try older version of wine, but that won't help me with openbox

here is output of "wine FlatOut2.exe"

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

Wine is not working because of direct rendering. I'm able to play games when I type unset LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT, but this unset is bound to term. I need to find out how to unset it globally (I've got no better idea than ~/.bashrc yet, trying to find better)

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

Maybe add it to rc.local: 'unset LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT'

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

nope, that didn't help... I was looking for some confs that looked suspicious for me (=could contain "set indirect") but nothing found, because if I wont start compiz it works

Re: [SOLVED] Openbox and games in wine crashes xorg

Compiz sets LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT for all its child processes (googled), if I start terminal from gnome menu direct rendering is ok. But compiz seems to catch all the shortcuts, even if I disable shortcut in ccsm and enable it in gnome shortcuts.
And hypothesis about openbox: file .config/autostart/compiz.desktop is loaded with every DE/WM?

edit: yep, its that. If I remove the .config/autostart/compiz.desktop, openbox starts without any problem

seems to be solved, both wine and compiz
