changing from awesome -> xmonad. dock q's config q's etc

After my last update, awesome broke yet again [it wasn't even an awesome update] so I made the choice to move to something more stable in the form of xmonad [I've been meaning to try it for ages, but the download of the haskell compiler put me off].

I'm loving it so far, but have some questions. Sorry if these have been posted before.

1/ how do I auto start docky and xcompmgr

2/ not a q per say, but I'm using xmobar to start with and would be interested to see screenies and configs.

3/ is there an equivalent of the centred layout from awesome? I use it for a few apps.

that's all for now, there will no doubt be more though.

Googling around I used a messy solution to starting docky and xcompmgr, by adding a spawn 'docky' in xmonad.hs... I'm sure there is a better way though

1) I spawn trayer from my .xinitrc and xcompmgr from my main using spawn
2) I think the majority of us are using dzen2, but there is a thread that is just screenshots and configs on the forums
3) Sorry, don't know what your talking about, never used Awesome.
