[finally solved] kernel 2.6.35 and ath9k

This problem has been the focus of (at least) two threads.
Sad to say - it is still present. It was last reported on kernel 2.6.35.4, but I can confirm that it is valied for _all_ 2.6.35-kernels.
One solution was to use a different driver from aur (compat-wireless-all), but this doesn't work for me and my Acer Aspire One.
What does work is any 2.6.34-kernel.

So yes - there are ways around it, but I am somewhat surprised that not many have reacted to it - there must be more than two AAO-users out there!
Some one even pointed out exactly _when_ the breaking code was inserted (march  2010 sometime) - it was a patch.
Every time a new 2.6.35 comes out I eagerly check it - thinking that finally, this has been resolved - but so far no such luck.

So - any AAO-users out there - are any of you running 2.6.35 and can make the ath9k driver work?

[edit]
Finally!!
The last kernel 2.6.35.7 solved it! - yeehaw!!

What do you mean? I'm currently connected to a WPA2-TKIP network, and a WPA-EAP at university.

--EDIT--
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that "AAO" was an Acer netbook. Still, I'm using an Atheros AR9285.

@tvale:
I see you are using the 64-bit version (not that _that_ ought to make any difference).
But are you using the ath9k-driver - and if so, is it defined in MODULES=( ) in /etc/rc.conf?
- or do you use some other mean to start up your wireless?

I have got it in /etc/rc.conf and I start 'wicd' in the DAEMONS=( ) ...
If I remove ath9k from MODULES, then I can at least successfully boot and use wired connection.

Seemingly, the problem is with the command "ifconfig wlan0 up" (which is being run by 'wicd'. If I comment out the ath9k-driver, then I dont have a 'wlan0' and everything is working (apart from wireless of course)

Yes, I got ath9k in my MODULES array. And I also have wicd daemon. It works here, I'm using an Asus UL30A. I really don't know what could be wrong with you, sorry. :s

Oooops - I'm sorry, I dont have an AAO but a 'gateway 3103u' which _should_ be the same as an AAO apart from the graphics adapter ...
And the wireless is most certainly an AR9285 ...

04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

What irks me is that the driver for the 2.6.34-kernel works just perfectly - no problems whatsoever.

toshiba nb305-n410
lspci | grep -i atheros
07:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

works with all kernels up to 2.6.35.7

maybe there is another reason for failing network on your netbook? e.g you do have manufacturer modified Atheros. Still if your card worked with 2.6.34, then it should work now.

Re: [finally solved] kernel 2.6.35 and ath9k

Let's get it to the top of the list for a (brief) moment.
The last kernel - 2.6.35.7 - did it!! After having had to use 2.6.34 for just too long (and I'm sorry, no offense intended!!) - it finally works!
Which - of course - make me wonder if the graphics driver had anything to do with it? There was a large upgrade of X-drivers together with the new kernel ... just makes one wonder ...

04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

Anyways - I'm a happy camper (yet again!)
