Re: Hibernation fails

You need to rebuild your kernel with "resume" under "HOOKS" in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf. There's a few threads about this already, try searching. A few members and me described this solution a few times already.

Edit: to spare you of searching: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96159

Have fun! smile

Re: Hibernation fails

That method didn't work for me . i put "resume" before filesystems in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and build the kernel as you suggested
but hibernate is not working properly

Re: Hibernation fails

Not a fix, more of a clarification: mkinitcpio hooks are implemented by rebuilding the initramfs image, not the kernel.

Full details on the mkinitcpio wiki page.

Re: Hibernation fails

I can confirm hibernation problems. My thread is here but I have not found a solution yet either.

Re: Hibernation fails

FWIW hibernation is working fine for me, using pm-utils with uswsusp. If anyone needs more details, just ask.

I'd also recommend suspend over hibernate any day - but that's a different topic, I guess. smile

Re: Hibernation fails

I'd recommend TuxOnIce over pm-utils, but that's a different topic, too. Heh. But yeah, use TOI.

Re: Hibernation fails

hadi: in your /boot/grub/menu.lst file, on the kernel command line for your arch partition you must have the kernel parameter "resume=/dev/sdXX" where /dev/sdXX is whatever your swap partition is.

/var/log/pm-suspend.log

(if using the pm-utils scripts)...

Re: Hibernation fails

That file is not showing anything special .

/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video suspend suspend: success.
Tue Oct 5 00:44:44 IRST 2010: performing suspend
Switching from vt7 to vt1
switching back to vt7
Tue Oct 5 01:06:08 IRST 2010: Awake.

This is the part in the log that must show what went wrong and failed to hibernate isn't it ?
