Kernel26mm update problem with pacman

:: kernel26mm: local version (2.6.11.rc5.mm1-1) is newer than repo version (2.6.11.mm1-1)

So that's the problem.

Re: Kernel26mm update problem with pacman

Yes, but anyway pacman should know:

2.6.11.mm1-1 is newer than 2.6.11.rc5.mm1-1

Re: Kernel26mm update problem with pacman

It just the way pacman compares version numbers.
Alphabetically, 2.6.11.mm1-1 comes before 2.6.11.rc5.mm1-1 so pacman think that 2.6.11.rc5.mm1-1 is a newer version

Re: Kernel26mm update problem with pacman

Should I treat it as a bug? I think pacman may be smarter than it.

Re: Kernel26mm update problem with pacman

maybe i should consider another $pkgver scheme for kernel26mm

instead of

2.6.X.rcY.mmZ

maybe

2.6.X.mmZ.rcY would be better

Re: Kernel26mm update problem with pacman

Haha, this is a much easier and better solution, and may be a guide line for another packages alike.
Thanks.
