I am not able to find out why, but once in a while sound within flash will stop in my Chromium, and I need to shut down the browser and open a new one. It's annoying since I keep browsers open a long time with important websites open etc.
Does anyone have this similar problem? It appears to only happen with flash and everything else works fine.

Are you using ALSA by any chance?
Do you have `alsa-oss` if so?
Do you have other applications running the background?

I actually have a same kind of problem with flash. Sound stops working after a while using firefox and to fix it I need to restart the browser or kill the Firefox flash plugin container.
Just noticed that I don't have 'alsa-oss' installed. Let's see if it helps.

ALSA's emulation of OSS bypasses dmix, so alsa-oss will only increase the likelihood of blocking.
Try my config.

Try my config.
Ok, used your config as ~/.asoundrc and the problem changed.
Now there's sound but occasionally the sound in flash get's stuck in something like intervals of the length of a second.

After changing the dmix rate from 48000 to 44100 the sound in flash has been ok for a while.
